"We have enjoyed the first semester of Java. I have programmed in many languages including Java, and I have a BS in Computer Science. I found this course to be excellent to use to teach my son as a homeschooling dad.  Thanks for your great products."
- Mark Craven, Charlotte, NC

BEGINNING JAVATM (Table of Contents) is a tutorial consisting of 10 chapters explaining (in simple, easy-to-follow terms) how to build a Java application. Students learn about project design, object-oriented programming, console applications, graphics applications and many elements of the Java language. Numerous examples are used to demonstrate every step in the building process. The tutorial also includes several detailed computer projects for students to build and try.  These projects include a number guessing game, a card game, an allowance calculator, a state capitals game, Tic-Tac-Toe, a simple drawing program, and even a basic video game (Project Screen Shots).   have also included several college prep bonus projects including a  loan calculator,   portfolio manager,  and a checkbook balancer to get you ready for college.

BEGINNING JAVATM is presented using a combination of over 400 pages of color course notes and actual Java examples. This material should be understandable to kids aged 13 and up.  No programming experience is necessary, but familiarity with doing common tasks using a computer operating system (simple editing, file maintenance, understanding directory structures, working on the Internet) is expected.

This course requires Windows  7, 8 MAC OS X, or Linux.  You also need the ability to view and print documents saved in Microsoft Word format, and Adobe Acrobat.   To complete any of our Java tutorials, you need to have a copy of the Java Development Kit (JDK8)  installed on your computer. This is a FREE product that can be downloaded from the Java website.  This site contains complete downloading and installation instructions for Java SE. You can also download all Java documentation from this same site. Look for the Standard Edition of Java  (Java SE).    Our tutorials also use the free NetBeans IDE as the IDE (Integrated Development Environment) for building and testing Java applications.

What others have been saying about our Computer Programming Books and Tutorials:

"My 14 year old son used the Beginning Java for High School Students course in the past semester, and we found it to be time and money well spent. We were able to set up the software without much trouble, and he was able to get right to work with minimal help needed at that point. He has gained great exposure to basic Java concepts and capabilities over the past 3 months. We will definitely use products from your company again in the future!"  - Kirk Rasbury Forney, TX

"Beginning Java is one of THE BEST step by step instruction guides to learning Java. I was a C programmer and bought this book to teach myself Java. It was money well spent as I have kept it on my desk as a Reference guide."  - Sherine Grant, IT Specialist, Kingston - Jamaica

“I believe your Java GUI programming book as one of the best and I enjoy learning from them. One of the things I like about your tutorials is that they teach you how to create and build sensible programs.  That to me makes a lot of sense, rather than just to learn a bunch of Java basics, like what I see in other books .   I have really appreciated the books I bought from you. I will tell anyone about  your publication because I am 100% certain they are simply the best!  There are no other Java books like yours.” – Carvel Bell, Java Developer,  Uniondale, NY
